Meet Your Gardeners.
I always tell clients during consults, “I didn’t know how to garden before I started gardening!” That seems so simple it’s almost comical but it’s true. Each one of our staff started their own gardening journey for a different reason and at a different stage of life. We’ve been in your shoes and know how much fun awaits you as you learn. Keep scrolling to get to know our gardeners and click below to read more about how Cedar Hill came to be!
Emily Grohovsky
Founder and Lead Garden Consultant

Emily is a wife, a mama to two boys, and works a part-time nurse but her love is being in her garden. Her dream is that everyone can simply grow food in their backyard without it being overwhelming or frustrating or time-consuming. She hopes you use all of her best tips and tricks and learn from her own mistakes along the way to put you on a fast-track to garden goals! Don't tell her you have a "black thumb" because she will consider that a challenge to prove you wrong!

Her motto is "Green thumbs aren't natural; they are learned."

Brad Grohovsky
Project Coordinator and Resident Carpenter

There is no Cedar Hill Gardens without Brad. He's the muscle behind all of design. A husband, dad, physical therapist, and student of life, Brad has found that the outdoors is the perfect laboratory and workshop for him to learn, experiment, build and grow alongside his family and community. While there is no "perfect pill" that fixes every aspect of health, studies have proven that the closest things we have to the cure are exercise and interacting with nature. Brad has found this to be true in his own life and career as a physical therapist.

Maddie McGuffey
Garden Consultant

Meet Maddie! Maddie has a really cute hobby homestead/farm in Madison. She is a self-taught gardener who began her gardening journey in 2018 but she grew up in her mom’s garden which is where her love really began. Now she’s creating her own unique garden for her two little girls. Maddie’s interests are starting plants from seeds, creating unique vertical arches and vertical growing structures out of reclaimed materials, and raising chickens and pigs, and collecting native plants. Maddie is a wealth of knowledge and fun to work with and she excels in creating personalized planting plans for our virtual clients!
Lauren Pearce
Garden Consultant and Seed Starting Manager
Lauren is a wife, mom, and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from the Jackson area who started raised bed gardening in her backyard in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After relocating back home to be closer to family and friends, Lauren started gardening in new raised beds in her front yard. She has a passion for starting seeds indoors and raising baby plants until they are ready to move outside to the garden. She loves cooking with fresh produce out of her garden and encouraging healthy food habits with her family. Guiding gardeners to becoming successful in their own garden journey is one of her favorite things about being a garden consultant. She and Emily were Brownie Scouts in elementary school together who reconnected years later over a love of gardening and the rest is history!
